Sixth formers taken behind-the-scenes at Cambridge

Eleven of our year 12 students were treated to a master class on applying for  top universities at Cambridge on Thursday July 4th. Our Oxbridge adviser, Joshi Herrmann, set up special sessions with Dr William O’Reilly a history lecturer and admissions tutor. Dr O’Reilly took students into the library at Trinity Hall, where they were shown not only one of the oldest collections of books in the kingdoms, but original letters to the college from Elizabeth I and Charles Dickens.

Most useful was the abundant advice from Dr O’Reilly on how to secure the best chance of a place at Oxbridge. This included a dummy interview with Joshi Herrmann himself, where quickfire demanding questions opened our students’ eyes to what was required.

This was an inspiring and informative day and we would like to thank Joshi Herrmann and Dr O’Reilly for putting together the programme, and Mrs Plumb for driving our students all the way there and back.
