Year 12 SMSC session

Year 12 SMSC session

For our year 12 SMSC session this morning, 5th October 2022, we welcomed Alison Mohammed, Director of Services at Shelter.  She came to speak to the students about the South Downs Welcome Project, a Community Sponsorship group centred in Hassocks who worked together to sponsor and support a refugee family to resettle in the Hassocks area.

It was an inspiring, informative and interactive session during which the students looked at the number of refugees across the world and in the UK.  They were challenged to look at how refugees are perceived and to clarify the definition of a refugee and the differences between refugees, assylum seekers and migrants.

We look forward to welcome Alison back in a couple of weeks to speak to our year 13 students.
