University and Futures Support

From the beginning of your sixth form journey at Sackville, we actively encourage you to consider your future plans and work with us to achieve your goals that should be realistic and aspirational.

At Sackville we offer dedicated UCAS (universities) support. This dedicated support begins in year 12; we give information and guidance for the whole application process. We help you identify and select courses, provide tutor group and individual workshop support for personal statement writing and for completing an application. We attend virtual and face to face workshops with our students. We also run our own annual higher education fair. We run a bespoke Oxbridge support group, dedicated top universities support groups and individual help for Medicine and Veterinary Medicine applicants. In October 2020 The Guardian ran a feature on our successful programme of support for getting students into university.

We recognise not everyone wants to follow the university route. We are pleased to have our own Futures Leader, Mrs Helen Smith – hsmith@sackvilleschool.org.uk –  who gives individual help and support with apprenticeship sourcing and applications.  We are proud of the success of our destinations and progression programme.

Our team of sixth form tutors, along with our assembly and SMSC programme, give students access to opportunities available to them both in higher and further education, the world of employment and gap year projects.

Throughout year 12 we run five futures events to support students in making decisions about their future post-18:

Futures Event 1 (September): Year 12 UCAS & Futures Day 1 (in school)

Futures Event 2 (January): Year 12 Higher Education Fair (4.30pm – 6.30pm in school)

Futures Event 3 (April): Year 12 UCAS Discovery event at the Brighton Centre

Futures Event 4 (June): Year 12 UCAS & Futures Day 4 (in school)

Futures Event 5 (July): Year 12  UCAS & Futures Day 4 (in school)
