Careers Program

We have a strong and stable careers program that takes students from Year 7 to Year 13. This includes a wide array of opportunities for students to engage with employers, have one to one careers interviews and a whole range of fairs within school looking at careers. We also aim to embed our careers information into the curriculum and curriculum areas are working to do this.

If you would like any information about our careers program please contact:

Mrs Helen Smith (Futures Leader) – hsmith@sackvilleschool.org.uk or 01342410140

Find it out Thursday

Students are able to explore different professions on a Thursday afternoon when we invite different speakers in.  Students are able to sign up for one talk per half term using the google form that is sent out at the beginning of each term or attached to the families bulletin.  Parents and carers please encourage your child to sign up and investigate different careers pathways.

A quote from one parent

‘I just wanted to let you know that my son in 8VSR found the Army talk extremely inspiring and has come away very keen and excited  to explore the army options and opportunities more.’

Calling employers – Do you want to get involved with your local school?

Simply contact Helen Smith via hsmith@sackvilleschool.org.uk to discuss the rewarding opportunities we organise for our business community to support our students with their next steps.

We already run a ‘Find It Out Thursday’ session weekly where we have had a range of outside speakers from industries like the Army, the Royal Airforce, Civil Engineering, East Grinstead Museum, the Fire Brigade, Hairdressing and many more. We are always keen for more volunteers from our local community. Please do get in touch if you think you could help.

I am a teacher – What tools can I utilise?

Here at Sackville, we ensure careers is being linked to curriculum learning.

  • All teachers have been given access to My Path to explore with their classes – if you have any questions about using My Path contact (hsmith@sackvilleschool.org.uk)
  • All form tutor have been provided with a LMI tutor time activity, helping students to understand growth and skills gaps in our local economy and plan better for their future!
