1.       Briefly outline your journey from leaving school to where you are today:

After leaving school I had already applied for and obtained a place at the University of Southampton to study physics however I deferred a year on the application. For a few months I worked part time at Waitrose to get myself enough money to go travelling. I did a three week trip with a close friend hopping on and off trains around Europe, but I decided that wasnt enough. So half a year later I saved enough money to go to the other side of the world, to New Zealand, for three months. I’ll be starting my physics degree near the end of 2014.

2.       One piece of advice you would give your 16 year old self:

Work hard and study more than you think you need to, that way you don’t have to do as much work later on.

3.       Any stand-out moments of your progression from school to now (interviews, moving away from home etc.)

As I decided to do a gap year I’ve had quite a few stand out moments. Leaving my family from the airport going to the other side of the world and knowing that I wasn’t going to see them (or my friends) again for a few months was a pretty big one. Some others have been skydiving above the bay of Islands, bungee jumping the highest in New Zealand, climbing mount ngauruhoe.

4.      Fondest memory from school:

My fondest memories are of my friends and my teachers in A levels as the classes were smaller so it made the teaching feel a lot more personal which let me understand the work more easily.
