Year 10 geographers at work in Wales

Our year 10 geographers spent the weekend of 12/14 July in the field in Wales, cementing what has been learned in their GCSE course over the last two years.
A visit to Ystradfellte waterfalls on Friday showed the students up close the way rivers develop in limestone landscapes.
This was followed by a study of the River Taff on Saturday. Low water levels did not stop an attempt at testing Bradshaw’s model of river flow.
Students stayed in the halls of residence at Swansea University, where there were facilities to discuss their findings in the evenings.
The journey home was punctuated by a visit to Pwll Mawr Museum to look at the history of mining the coal seams in the area.
Thank-you to the staff who have given up a weekend to make this happen.
