Future masterchefs show they have the right ingredients

Mrs Slater writes:-

The first Sackville Bake Off had the theme ‘Platinum Jubilee‘ as inspiration, and students form y7 to 9 were invited to take part by baking a cake and sending in a picture. Students from Sackville school and Imberhorne school were invited.
10 finalists were then selected, five from each school. Our finalists were Oscar year 9, Claudia year 8, Avy -Mai year 7, Rose year 8 and Neve year 8.
The live bake off was held on the 7th July and finalists were given up to four hours to remake their cake for judging. The judges included Max Leonard, a local professional chef, Ivy Pimenta, who retired from teaching home economics at sackville 23 years ago, and Mary Smith, another retired home economics teacher.
The winners were then announced and prizes awarded by the Mayor, Adam Peacock. The competition was sponsored by the Rotary Club of East Grinstead Meridian. The overall winner was Angel from Imberhorne, second place went to Oscar and third place went to Rose both from Sackville school.
We hope to do it all again next year.
