Year 9 whip up delish dishes for cookery competition

Year 9 have been cooking up a storm over the last few weeks, with the 3 Hospitality and Catering classes taking part in an exciting cookery competition.

Working in pairs, they had to design and whip up a 2-course meal for two, using as much local and seasonal produce as possible. With just 90 minutes to prepare and present, the sumptuous dishes were then judged by an esteemed panel, including our new Head, Ms Meloni, Jayne Palmer, Sackville’s very own canteen manager, and Max Leonard, Head Chef at the Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club.

Dished were reviewed by a range of criteria, such as taste, texture and presentation. The standard was very impressive! Max Leonard was blown away with the skills the students showcased.

Winning pairs:

Class 9A – Xander Green and Darcy O’Ryan Bristow

Class 9B – Summer Lehner & Amelia Barber

And, with the highest scores out of everyone, we’re thrilled to announce the joint winning pairs:

Class 9C – Liberty Beynon & Bronte Scott-Davis and Shane Dilek & Destiny Lugg

Well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to our wonderful judges too!
