3D Comin’ at ya!
Mr Scarfe writes:-
Film Studies entered a new dimension this week as the phenomenon that is 3D cinema came to our Year 9 Film Students as part of their learning of Developments in Film. Thanks to Mrs Tweed and Ms Ward for helping with constructing the cardboard red & blue glasses.
After some input about how and why this gimmick came about not once (1950s) but twice (1980s) in Hollywood’s attempt to stop the slide in box office takings because of the introduction of Television and then Video Cassette Recorders, it was time to experience the effect for themselves. Many gasps as the screen literally came towards the class with examples from ‘Creature from the Black Lagoon,’ ‘House of Wax’ and Hitchcock’s ‘Dial M for Murder’.
