Year 9 geographers look at urban redevelopment in London
[slideshow_deploy id=’31967′]
Our year 9 geographers chose a perfect midsummer’s day to travel to east London to look at urban regeneration.
This trip supports the part of the curriculum they are now studying. Students looked at the impact of the Olympic developments on the area, considering the pros and cons of the major building work that has occurred.
They also looked a flagship urban redevelopment scheme of a generation ago in the docklands, which involved travelling on the Docklands Light Railway.
Students completed field sketches and looked at environmental quality indices in coming to an overall judgment about the impact of the different schemes.
Thank-you to the geography teachers for making the subject even more alive than usual!
