Orshivtsy Orphanage Ukraine Clothing Drive – Mrs Abel writes

A Message on behalf of  www.anorphansmiles.org

Well, thanks to you amazingly generous people of the Sackville Community there are some very smiley orphans in Ukraine now.

I cannot even begin to imagine their lives in this current situation but they know that people are thinking of them and supporting them here in East Grinstead. They now have some lovely clothes which means that the orphanages can spend their limited money on other things to help support the children.

You have all been brilliant and very generous. Thank you so much for showing such kindness and compassion. The charity does fantastic work and it is wonderful that we can also show our support in this way.

They have sent a beautiful video of the children performing a flag dance, it reminds me of our Maypole dances and they have also sent a lovely photo so that you can see their gorgeous smiles.

They have finished with the clothing drive and, having done medical supplies, Lyn Kolber from the charity is now going to start collecting Art supplies so that the orphanages can begin doing some art therapy to help deal with the trauma suffered by the children both before and during the current incursion.

Art Therapy is a wonderful intervention that allows professionals to address emotional issues in young people that may be causing great distress or confusion, using the medium of art.

You have all been so generous already but if you do have any decent art supplies to donate, anything from paper and art books to paints, pens and pastels,  please feel free to drop them into T01 in school or contact Lyn directly via email at lynnk@otclih.com

But, most importantly, thank you for your generosity with the Clothing Drive.
