Two great proms on the same night

Two great proms on the same night

On the last day in June we said goodbye to both our year 11s and our year 13s. These students are the first to have sat formal exams since the pandemic, and if ever anyone deserved a good send-off it was them.

Post-Covid booking challenges meant the proms were on the same night – but that merely doubled the enjoyment.

Year 11s kicked off the day with a special assembly compered by MC Millican, who at one point seemed to become a little teary – hayfever apparently. The assembly featured a great collection of photos from the students’ early days – the laughter could be heard on the other side of school. At the end of the assembly the students were applauded out by a year 7 guard of honour.

Their prom was at Plumpton Racecourse, and students departed Sackville in coaches in the early evening. Tractors, a fire engine and a plethora of fine cars conveyed the students to school in all their finery.

The prom was a huge success and enjoyed by staff and students alike.

Meanwhile, the year 13s had their prom at David Salomons’ House near Tunbridge Wells. Another lovely location and a great way to send off a year group who sat challenging level 3 assessments this year having never taken their GCSEs. A great evening was had by all.

Thank-you to all the staff who made both these send-offs so memorable.
